Travel back in time with these retro classics - these rainbow-coloured; sugar-coated treats take you back to your childhood!

The classic sugar-coated Rainbow Drops come in many colours - including yellow, purple, green, pink, and orange. Rainbow Drops are free from artificial colouring and come in a range of different-sized bags. When was the last time you had a bag?

The History of Rainbow Drops
First produced by Swizzels Matlow over 90 years ago, they were one of the first confectionary inventions by the retro sweet legends, Swizzels. Rainbow Drops were invented before the Second World War and have been a childhood, sweetshop favourite ever since. And now, thanks to AQuarterOf.co.uk, they're available online, making it easier than ever to sample this British cult classic today.

Back in the 1930s, Rainbow Drops were sold loose and you could simply scoop a paper bag full for just 1d, that's just a penny in today's money! Today, Rainbow Drops some in the classic blue bag but taste as good as ever.

It is one of life’s greatest mysteries to know how many Rainbow Drops you get in each bag, but these vibrant maize puffs are the perfect low-calorie sweet treat, totaling around 37 calories per 12g bag. Whilst these taste amazing, they're a fantastic treat if you want to watch the calories.

How are Rainbow Drops made?
Interestingly, the colourful drops are manufactured by heating naturally coloured rice and maize powder and the heat makes them pop into drops!

Every year, Swizzels Matlow makes enough Rainbow Drops to fill 25 Olympic-sized swimming pools! It would be quite fun to swim in that!

Are Rainbow Drops Vegan?
As well as amazingly having no artificial colouring, Rainbow Drops are also gelatine free which means that they are vegetarian and vegan friendly! Along with Love Hearts and Parma Violets - Rainbow Drops are a vegan confectionary staple.

Rainbow Drops Recipes!
You can get creative as there are endless ways that you can brighten up your culinary creations with the use of these colourful drops!

Decorate your baked goods such as buns and cakes - this is great fun for the kids (and adults). You can get creative with all the colours of the rainbow or even impress your friends and family with a showstopping rainbow drop cake. If you love a chocolate brownie, you can also add Rainbow Drops into a brownie mix or some marshmallow snack bars for an extra colourful surprise.

Some people even go the extra mile and add milk to enjoy their Rainbow Drops as a very sweet cereal-style treat! Would you give this a go? Of course, you can just eat them straight out of the bag, which is just as fun,  but the possibilities are endless!

Rainbow drops are colourful, fun, light and so tasty. There is nothing else quite like a Rainbow Drop! Best of all, because they are so low on calories, why not treat yourself to an extra bag (or two). <-- new -->
