Who'd have thought that such a delicious spice would come from the bark of a tree?  Actually it's the inner bark of several tree species to be exact... all from the genus Cinnamomum... and those trees are native to India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. (source: Wikipedia)

Well thankfully someone in the dim and distant past thought that cinnamon bark was worth a chew... liked what they tasted... and introduced the flavour to the world of confectionery.   Thank goodness they did!
